The small resort town of Wanaka is ideal for non-hunters and only a 10-minute drive from our hunting area. We are renowned for offering the most exclusive hunting opportunities for the biggest Red Stags in the world.
The hunting preserve is in undulating back country covered in native vegetation. There is excellent cover and plenty of draws and gullies providing an environment that delivers all the excitement of hunting in raw, untamed terrain without compromising on accessibility – you can travel in on foot, drive in via 4WD, or be flown in.

Hunting Seasons
While our country is not restricted by a big game hunting season, we operate from late February to mid-August. It is important to remember that the seasons here are opposite of the Northern Hemisphere.
SUMMER (DEC-FEB)
Summer brings the unique opportunity to hunt Chamois and Tahr in their summer coats. It is also a chance to look over plenty of Red Stags and Sika in the open country, and pick a monumental trophy before the rut takes its toll.
AUTUMN (MAR-MAY)
Autumn is when the big hunt begins – with the Red Stag rut reaching its peak in late March and early April. Sika stags are also out in the open, joined by Fallow bucks mid-season.
WINTER (JUN-AUG)
There is a great deal of hunting to be enjoyed during the New Zealand winter! It is the last time Red Stag and Sika trophies will be widely available, while Chamois and Tahr coats are still in their prime.
SPRING (SEP-NOV)
The start of spring sees the last good chance for hunting Chamois and Tahr, with Rusa and Sambar still available through November. The fishing season gets underway on October 1st, so this is the perfect time for the avid angler.

*On tahr and chamois hunts, depending on your physical ability we suggest the use of a helicopter to access our higher hunting areas in the Alps. If you choose this option, budget for approximately $2,500 – $3,500. Keep in mind that the helicopter is optional—you do not have to use it.
